Tandi debuts for TP Mazembe

Tandi Mwape made his debut for DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in their opening game of the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup as they took on Azam Rwanda Premier League Champions, Rayon Sports.

Mwape partnered Kévin Mondeko in the heart of defense in the absence of his countrymate Kabaso Chongo who was not part of the matchday squad.

A third-minute strike from Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu separated the two sides as new Cameroonian coach Mathurin Olivier Ovambe started off his coaching duties with Rayon Sports on a winning note. Rayon Sports FC lead Group A standings with three points while TP Mazembe lies bottom of the standings with no points.

Chipolopolo defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala and winger Rainford Kalaba also had a run out on the field.

Mazembe beat Sensational Zanaco to the signature of the former Kabwe Warriors man paying a fee around the US $50,000 while the player will be earning a salary of $7,000 per month.

Next for Mazembe is Tanzanian side KMC who they will face on Tuesday at 17:00 hrs at the Kigali Stadium while South Sudanese side Atlabara FC will face Rayon Sports.
