Supreme Orders The Post To Settle K53 Million Tax Debt

kabimba-celebrate-postThe Post Newspapers may just have to face up to their tax obligations after the Supreme Court threw out a stay of execution that had sought to halt the Zambia Revenue Authority from harvesting the paper’s tax obligations wholesomely.

High Court judge Mwinde Siavwapa granted The Post Newspapers a stay of execution freezing the ZRA’s decision to have the paper pay all their tax arrears.

The stay stopped the ZRA from levying distress on The Post pending the outcome of the court decision of October, 30 2015 that was found against the paper.

However the paper contested the decision and went court where they obtained a stay of execution on November 10, 2015.

The ZRA challenged the decision and went to the Supreme Court where the June 13 ruling found in their favour.

However the Supreme Court set aside the judgment from the High Court pending the outcome of The Post Newspapers appeal on the substantive case.
