Sunzu wins Ligue two title as Emmanuel Banda sets up all important goal

Zambian defensive kingpin Stophila Sunzu added a new medal to his collection as FC Metz cruised to a three nil win over Valenciennes to win the 2018/19 French Ligue two title with two games left to play.

The Messins as Metz are fondly called came into the match against Valenciennes knowing a win for them and a loss for second placed Brest who traveled to face relegation threatened Beziers would do the trick.

A first half brace from Habib Diallo and goal Opa Nguette was all Metz needed to secure maximum points. Stoppila Sunzu and John Boye at the heart of defence were solid to make sure Metz keep a clean sheet and win the match 3-0.

The confirmation of winning the title was however after second placed Brest were handed a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation threatened Beziers to make sure Metz opened a seven point lead with only seven games left.

Metz crowned league two champions

Another Zambian played an hand as midfielder Emmanuel Banda came from the bench to set up the only goal of the game as AS Béziers’ shock one nil win over Brest.

Emmanuel Banda was introduced in the 79th minute replacing Mickaël Diakota and set up Aboubakary Kanté for the only goal of the game.

Béziers held on to win the match and move to 34 points and only need to win their last two to survive relegation. The win for Béziers confirmed Metz as the Champions of the Domingues Ligue 2 .
