Street Vendors Directed Not To Pay Any Money To PF

By Logic Lukwanda

Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa says the local authority will contain the situation in the central business district, following the decision by government to designate Lumumba road for street vending.

Mr Sampa tells Phoenix News that the Lusaka City Council will step up efforts to cleaning the city from the levy that will be realised from the vendors.
And Mr Sampa has urged the venders who are only allowed to trade between 16 and 20hrs not to pay any money to PF cadres but to the council.

He has since warned that Cairo, Chachacha and Freedomway will remain no go areas for street vendors.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health through its spokesperson Dr Abel Kabalo called on the council to ensure all hygiene practices are followed by street vendors on Lumumba road and Simon Mwewa lane to avoid an outbreak of water borne diseases.
