Stop harassing MMD candidates, Nakacinda told
MMD Acting Party Spokesperson Irene Musonda has condemned member of a rival faction Rafael Nakacinda for allegedly harassing duly adopted MMD aspiring candidates for the forth-coming 16 August, 2016 General Elections.
Musonda, a member of the Nevers Mumba faction, has appealed to Nakacinda to “desist from this thuggery” as the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has made it clear that all those aspiring candidates whose nominations were duly ratified by the Commission cannot be reversed and will stand on the seats as applied.
She said information has reached the Party leadership that Nakacinda has unleashed his agents in Kawambwa, headed by a Mr. Gibson Musonda, who are going round to tell people that MMD Kawambwa aspiring candidate Eliabeth Chitaka Molobeka has been barred from contesting.
Musonda explained Nakacinda’s faction recently attempted to take the matter to the Constitutional Court to have these candidates’ nominations nullified, but the matter was thrown out.
“We wish to encourage all our candidates to take courage and not give into the dirty schemes of the likes of Mr. Nakacinda as he has no authority whatsoever to undertake the contemptious deeds he is engaged in and all those working with him are at risk of facing the wrath of the law,” she said.
Musonda reiterated that there is only one legitimate leadership in the MMD which is the one under Dr. Nevers Mumba.
