STOP ABUSING YOUTHS, POLITICIANS TOLD

By NATION REPORTER
IT is unfortunate that some politicians’ desperation for power has led them to incite students to rise against Government, resulting in loss of innocent lives, a senior Patriotic Front Eastern Province member has charged.
In an interview yesterday, Boniface Botha said he strongly believed that there was a political hand in last Thursday night’s protests by University of Zambia (UNZA) students, hours after some of them had attended a press briefing addressed by a named politician.
Mr. Botha said the politicians and the students in question knew well that police were expected to react to  any such disturbance at the highest learning institution, hence the latter’s alleged deliberate move to protest in the night over delayed meal, project and accommodation allowances; and create a scenario that would point accusing fingers at Government.
“Losing such a youthful life is unfortunate to her family, the nation and even to the opposition parties. A lot was expected from her especially that we are now on the development
agenda.
