“Stigma Undermining HIV fight”

August 16, 2019August 16, 20194By Angela Limwanya-Acting Livingstone District Commissioner Harriet Kawina says stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS is seriously undermining the efforts of the government to reduce the spread of the HIV virus.Ms. Kawina said this in a speech read on her behalf by Acting Livingstone District Administrative Officer, Hellen Mwanza at the commemoration of the HIV Testing, Counseling and Treatment Day in the Tourist Capital.Speaking at the same function, Acting Livingstone District Health Director, Robert Banda said more than twenty-thousand people were tested for HIV by the end of 2018.And Livingstone District HIV-AIDS Committee Chairperson, Eugine Kamuti said young people need increased information to reduce the spread of HIV.
