STATE HOUSE ON DSSI
By Wilson Mulinda:
State House says Government will channel 5 hundred million United States dollars towards key sectors after successfully signing the Debt Service Suspension Initiative -DSSI-.
Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya says this is being done to put an end to plunder of public resources for any procurement.
Mr. Bwalya says the new dawn administration wants to reform public procurement of goods and services with basic criteria including good pricing and quality.
He says delivering change will require heightened levels of discipline and transparency.
Speaking during a media briefing at statehouse, Mr. Bwalya said President Hakainde Hichilema will make good of all commitments and promises made during campaigns as evidenced by what has been done so far.
And Mr. Bwalya has warned that no person will be protected if they engage in political violence regardless of political affiliation.
He said any person found guilty of electoral violence during elections will be exposed to the wrath of the law without partiality.
Meanwhile, Presidential COVID Advisor Roma Chilengi said Government targets to increase vaccination in readiness for the expected 4th wave.
Dr. Chilengi said those in high offices or holding influential positions will be expected to play their part to convince people to get vaccinated for health purposes.
He also indicated that mixing vaccines is currently a matter under research, adding that no one should be misled.
Dr. Chilengi further called for calm as the country expects variety of vaccines that have been pledged by well-wishers.
