Stanbic Bank Donates K240,000 to Junior Achievement

By Patricia Banda-First Lady Esther Lungu has commended Stanbic Bank for its commitment to uplifting the living standards of children especially those in rural areas.Mrs Lungu said this when the bank handed over a cheque worth 240,000 Kwacha to her to go towards this year’s Junior Achievement programme.The First Lady has encouraged pupils to make the experience in mentorship program a stepping-stone for their future career progression.And Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited Broad Chairperson Austin Mwape says the bank has so far invested about One point five Million Kwacha to benefit five Hundred pupils across the country.Meanwhile General Education Minister David Mabumba said the mentorship program is appropriate and has come at a time when the Ministry is implementing the new curriculum that promotes the two-tier education system.He was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Education permanent secretary Jobbicks Kalumba.And Junior Achievers of Africa Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Bentliff said the organisation will continue to promote mentorship for young people.In a vote of thanks, a grade 11 pupil from Saint Mulumba special school Collins Hisali has thanked the first lady for embracing children with disabilities.
