Various non-governmental organisations have welcomed the Constitutional Court’s latest judgement that President Edgar Lungu is eligible to contest the 2021 General Elections.
Governance, Elections, Advocacy, Research Services (GEARS) Initiative Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says despite the divergent views on the Presidential eligibility case the court’s judgment must be respected.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is now up to Zambia to choose the President and leaders of their choices in the 2021 General Elections.
And Battle Cry for Zambia Founder Obrian Mayambu has implored all political players in the country to respect the Constitutional Court’s judgement on matter.
Mr. Mayambu has urged politicians and their supporters to focus on the 2021General Elections.
Meanwhile Movement for Promoting National Values and Principles Executive Director Joseck Kunda says he is impressed with the Constitutional Court’s ruling that article106 clause three and article106 clause six of the Constitutional on Presidential eligibility must not be interpreted in isolation.
Mr. Kunda backed the Constitutional Court’s view that the constitution must be interpreted holistically.
