STAKEHOLDERS SPEAK OUT ON VIOLENCE

By Hannock Kasama

Various stakeholders have called for interventions so that that the current political violence does not spill over to the 2021 General Elections.

The Zambia Centre for Inter party Dialogue -ZCID- says political violence is not only injurious to human life but also an affront to democracy.

ZCID Board Chairperson Jackson Silavwe says all political leaders must denounce political violence.

Mr. SILAWVE was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in LUSAKA.

And the Anti-Political Violence Association of Zambia has called for stiff punishment for perpetrators of violence, regardless of political affiliation.

Association President Bernadette Mulenga says the move is one of the deterrent measures.

Meanwhile, the Violence Free Elections World Youth Organisation has called on youths not to be used as tools of violence ahead of the 2021 General Election.

Organisation President Robert Chansa says his organisation will soon embark on a sensitisation campaign against political violence.
