Speeding motor bike kills man in Kalomo

A 59 year old woman of Sinduna village in chief Siachitema of Kalomo District in Southern Province has died on the sport after being run over by an over speeding motor bike.
The accident happened yesterday around 08:20 hours opposite Kalomo High School along the Great North Road.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo told Mwebantu in a statement that the accident happened when the rider of the motor bike identified as Hope Mbandama aged 23 years of Mclaymond Compound in Kalomo was overtaking an unknown motor vehicle and in the process hit the pedestrian.
Katongo has identified the deceased as Flora Mudenda of Sindunda village in Chief Siachitema.
Katongo said due to the impact, the deceased sustained fatal head injuries and a fractured left leg and consequently died on the spot while the rider sustained multiple injuries on his body and was rushed to the Hospital where he is admitted.
Katongo said the body of the deceased has been deposited in Kalomo hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and that the rider is yet to be charged with causing death by dangerous riding.
