Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has called for ratification of the Protocol on the Constitutive Act of Pan African Parliament.
Dr. Matimbini says the ratification of the Protocol by the African Union will give the continental body some legislative powers.
He was speaking when he delivered his solidarity message at the opening ceremony of the fourth session of the fifth Parliament of the Pan Africa Parliament.
Dr. Matibini said the Zambian Parliament was committed to enhancing partnership with Pan African Parliament in order to foster democracy and good governance on the continent.
He also praised the Pan African Parliament for adapting to change amid challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by remaining resilient and conduct parliamentary business.
