SILIYA ASKS FIRMS TO PROMOTE FILM INDUSTRY

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Dora Siliya has called on the private sector to partner with government in the promotion of the film industry and creative arts in Zambia.
Speaking during a fundraising cocktail for a movie “Making Of A Slave” in Lusaka last night, Ms. Siliya said Zambia has a lot of talent that needs support from all stakeholders.
She said the private sector should emulate multi-choice which is training film producers from the region who will take the mantle of telling the African stories.
Ms. Siliya who is also Chief government spokesperson said government wants to put Zambia on the map where the film industry is concerned.
And US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote said the movie industry has potential to change the economic landscape of Zambia.
Mr. Foote said the United States is generating huge income from the arts and creative industry and that Zambia can do the same.
