Shepolopolo Storm Semis…Book Date with Cameroon

The Shepolopolo have qualified to the semifinals of the 2018 Cosafa Women Championship with a 3-0 win over Mozambique.

Zambia will meet Cameroon in the semifinals following a flawed format that has seen the guest nation qualify as the second best loser.

Gaols from skipper Barbara Banda, Rachael Nachula and Mary Mwakapila gave Zambia maximum points and maintained their unbeaten run at the tournament.

Zambia beat Lesotho 2-0 in the opening match before defeating the lionesses of Cameroon 1-0.

Today’s match was the final one on the group with Cameroon pounding Lesotho 6-0 to accumulate six points.

Cameroon edge out Zimbabwe to the second best placed loser thanks to a superior goal difference.

Group winners got automatic qualification across the three groups with a slot for one best second placed side.

The semifinal ties have host nation South Africa taking on guest team Uganda with Zambia having a second fight with Cameroon.

Semifinal matches will be played on Thursday.
