Shepolopolo in Dicey Cameroon Clash

The Zambia Women National Team faces Cameroon today (Thursday) in a potentially explosive semi-final clash that has got tongues wagging in Port Elizabeth given the reputation the two sides have crafted for themselves at the 2018 Cosafa Women Championship.

Zambia has won all their matches at the tournament without conceding a goal while Cameroon has been ripping open opponents with Zambia having been the only side to defeat them at the tournament in the group stage with a wonder strike by Lushomo Mweemba.

It is that rivalry that has added fuel to the anticipation of a titanic clash between the two Africa Women Championship bound sides in November.

Coach Beauty Mwamba has had to contend with the injury of skipper Misozi Zulu and Rhodah Chileshe who were injured during the energy sapping encounter with Cameroon on Saturday.

The replacements will be oiled enough today after having tested action in the 3-0 win over Mozambique on Tuesday.

In the absence of Zulu, the captaincy will fall on the prolific Barbara Banda who has been a classy act at the tournament and will be expected to conjure some action upfront with Rachael Nachula and Rachael Kundananji.

In midfield Hellen Chanda who put up a Player of the Match performance will team up with the pint-sized Mary Mwakapila who has been in scintillating form at the tournament to link play with the forwards.

At the back Anita Mulenga, Mweemba, Margaret Belemu and Martha Tembo will provide cover for the ever reliable Hazel Nali in goal.

The match kickoff at 13:00 hours at the Wolfson Stadium and will be live on Kwese TV.

Whoever carries the day will join the winner between South Africa and Uganda in the other semi-final match to kickoff at 15:30 hours at the same venue.
