SHEEP & GOATS HANDED OVER IN LUKULU

(ZANIS) Government has handed over a district Sheep and Goat project in Lukulu district worth 1 point 5 million kwacha under the implementation of the Pilot Project for Climate Resilience.

The project which consists of a solar powered borehole has five satellite group beneficiaries who in turn are going to share among the communities.

Speaking at the hand over in Kawaya, Lukulu District Commissioner Teddy Chimbinde said all government programs and projects are meant to alleviate poverty levels in communities.

Mr. Chimbinde thanked the beneficiaries for being patient as the project started last year and urged them to put it into good use.

He noted that with the solar powered borehole, members of the community will be able to have gardens at household levels.

And District Operations Officer Clement Ntabo explained that the concept of the project is for breeding in order for each household to benefit.

Earlier, Kwalombota Sishwashwa thanked government for fulfilling its promises in delivering to the people of Kawaya.

Mr. Sishwashwa said the project has come at a good time when most farmers have started clearing land for gardening.
