Seven Zambians abroad in action today …Salzburg set to receive Champions plate as Simba face Azam in Cup game

Today is a busy day for Zambian players based outside the country with eight players expected to be in action.

In Tanzania, Simba who won the Tanzania mainland league just three days ago have another opportunity to end the season with two titles as they face Azam FC in the quarterfinals of the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

Chipolopolo midfield ace Clatous Chota Chama (Triple C) is expected to start for Wekundu wa Msimbazi who are coached by former Zambia national team boss Sven Vandenbroeck.

Azam also has a Zambian on their books in Obbrey Chirwa. The former Yanga forward is expected to lead the ‘Ice-Cream Makers’ attack as they look to stand in Simba’s way to win a double.

In Russia, Zambian trio of striker Evans Kangwa, midfielder Klings Kangwa, and winger Lameck Banda will also be in action as Arsenal Tula welcome Akhmat Grozny.

Evans Kangwa is expected to start while Lameck and Klings are again expected to come from the bench as game-changers.

In Sweden, Mphande Youth product Edward Chilufya will most likely lead Djurgadens IF attack this afternoon when they face off with UEFA Champions League regulars Malmö FF.

Chilufya has been named in coach Kim Bergstrand’s nineteen member squad for this evening’s clash. Midfielder Emmanuel Banda who recently recovered from injury is not part of the squad and continues to wait for his Swedish Allsvenskan debut.

In Austria, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu will be in action with their Redbull Salzburg teammates when they host Sturm Graz at the Redbull Arena.

Mwepu has been instrumental in the middle of the park while Patson has been on scoring 24 league goals to help Salzburg lift their seventh consecutive Tipico Bundesliga title.

The Austrian Football authorities will hand, Salzburg their Champions plate as this is their final home game.

Despite Salzburg having already won the double and secured European football, The 2017 CAF young player of the year, Daka has a Golden boot race to run.

Wolfsberger AC’s Israeli forward Shon Zalman Weissman leads the goalscorers chart with 27 goals, Three above Daka with two games to go.
