Seven on target, Mwiya into Liverpool county final as Patson wins player of the month

Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend and came out with mixed results.

Justin Shonga, Collins Mbesuma, Salulani Phiri, Obbrey Chirwa, Fashion Sakala, Mwape Musonda and Evans Kangwa found the back of the net to guide their teams to victory . Mwiya Malumo and his Vulcan U21 team mates sailed through to the Liverpool county FA Cup final while Patson Daka was voted Redbull Salzburg player of the month of February.

In South Africa , Striker Justin Shonga scored the only goal of the game as Orlando Pirates squeezed a one nil win over Golden Arrows to leapfrog Bidvets Wits into second place on the PSL table.

Augustine Mulenga was a second half substitute.

PSL top goalscorer Mwape Musonda took his tally to nine as he scored in Black Leopards 2-2 draw with Free State Stars.

Former Zanaco midfielder Salulani Phiri scored a goal and put in a full ninety minute shift to help Polokwane City claim Limpompo bragging rights beating Wedson Nyirenda’s Baroka 3-1.

Former Nkana captain Donashano Malama was an unused substitute for Chippa United who suffered a one nil loss at the hands of Supersport United . Former Power dynamos duo of Billy Mutale and Gamphani Lungu were both left out of the match day squad.

In the NFD, Zambian goal machine Collins Mbesuma scored his eighth goal of the season in Maccabi’s 2-1 defeat away to Ubuntu Cape Town.

In DRC, The Zambian trio had an off weekend but on Thursday Defender Kabaso Chongo put in a full ninety minute shift for TP Mazembe who handed Mont Bleu a five goal humiliation to reduce AS Vita lead at the summit to just a point.

In Tanzania, Striker Obbrey Chirwa was on target for Azam in their 3-1 win over African Lyon.

Elsewhere Midfield ace Clatous Chota Chama was an unused substitute for SilvaSimba SC who beat Stand United 2-0 courtesy of a John Bocco brace.

In Austria, Enock Mwepu put in a decent 86 minute shift for RedBull Salzburg who managed a 3-0 win over Wolfsberger AC. Striker Patson Daka was an unused substitute.

Daka was voted the player of the month of February after beating Marin Pongracic, Stefan Lainer and midfielder Xaver Schlager to the accolade.

In Belgium, Striker Fashion Sakala came from the bench to rescue a point for struggling KV Oostende who were held to a one all draw by Waasland-Beveren at home.

In England, Lifumpa Mwandwe put in a decent 90 minute shift for Shrewsbury Town U18 that played out to a 4-4 draw with Blackpool U18.

Striker Mwiya Malumo put in a 80 minute shift for Vulcan U21 who beat Lydiate 5-4 on post match penalties after a 3-3 draw to progress to the final of the Liverpool county FA Cup final.

The lanky forwad worked very hard against a tough defence on a bad pitch. Held the ball up very well and caused problems. Good performance from him!.

In France, Midfielder Emmanuel Banda played for AS Bèziers who were held to a barren draw by Chamois Niortais at home in the French Ligue 2.

Defender Stophila Sunzu and his FC Metz team mates will be on action this evenning as they face Le Harve in a Ligue two encounter.

In Poland, Lubambo Musonda put in a 75 minute shift for Śląsk Wrocław who suffered a two nil loss at the hands of Piast Gliwice.

In Russia, Striker Evans Kangwa scored a goal as Arsenal Tula stunned CSKA Moscow 2-0 on the return to action of the Russian Premier league.
