SECURITY TIGHTENED AT BOARDER POSTS

Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo says security has been heightened at all the three borders Zambia shares with the Democratic Republic of Congo on the Copperbelt ahead of today’s polls in that Country.
Mr. Kampyongo told ZNBC News in Kitwe last evening that this is meant to secure all the boarders with the DRC.
The minister said the measure is also aimed at screening any asylum seekers who would want to cross into Zambia.
And a check at the Kasumbalesa boarder in Chililabombwe and Mokambo in Mufulira found the two facilities closed.
Meanwhile Chililabombwe Member of Parliament Richard Musukwa has called on Zambians leaving near Kasumbalesa border Post to remain calm amid presidential elections in the neighbouring DRC.
