Security Guard sentenced to 9 months imprisonment for corrupt practices

AN Arm Security Guard has been convicted and sentenced to nine (09) months imprisonment with hard Labour for corrupt practices.
Lusaka Subordinate Court Principal Resident Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile found Gabriel Veiga aged 45 of Lusaka West guilty of corrupt practices by soliciting and corrupt obtaining K2,000.
Hon. Mikalile has however, suspended the sentence to twelve (12) months.
The particulars of the offence are that Gabriel Veiga on dates unknown but between 1st September, 2016 and 14th October, 2016, in Lusaka, solicited and corruptly receive K2,000 cash gratification from Mr. Derrick Munyemyembe, a private person contracted by Parmalat Zambia Limited to repair the Company’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
Veiga is reported bro have received that amount as an inducement or reward for having played a role in the contract with Parmalat Zambia Limited for the repair of CCTV at the plant, a matter or transaction concerning Parmalat Zambia Limited and Arm Secure, private bodies
