POLICE in Lusaka have confirmed having received a report of Aggravated Robbery and attack on Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) president Sean Tembo.
Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said police received a report that  Tembo aged 39 was attacked by 12 unknown people along Cairo road in Lusaka on Thursday around 15:00 hours.
Mwale said the incident happened when unknown people emerged from three motor vehicles and attacked Tembo who was leading over a hundred protesters along Cairo.
“He was hit with unknown object on his head and robbed of a phone worth K17,000, cash money amounting to K8, 000 and seven bank cards,” Mwale said.
Mwale further said four of Tembo’s motor vehicles were damaged in the process.
Mwale also confirmed that Tembo had earlier notified the police about his protests slated for 28th November, 2019 but could not agree on an alternative date as officers were engaged in other duties on the said day.
“He chose to disregard Police guidance and went ahead with his protests without police presence. Police came to hear about the disturbance and by the time officers rushed to the scene, suspects had already left,” Mwale said.
He said police have since instituted investigations into the matter and further called on Tembo and any other persons to assist them with information about the suspects.
