Polokwane City midfielder Salulani Phiri is among the foreign-based players who are in good form at the moment.

Before the South African Premier Soccer league came to a halt, Salulani started 75% of the Limpopo based outfit scoring three goals and making two assists.

He might be doing well in the PSL but he started his topflight journey at Sunset Stadium. The ZamFoot Crew met up with the Chipolopolo hard-tackling midfielder on his time at Zanaco.

Salulani Phiri fondly remembers his time at Zanaco and told the ZamFoot Crew about his most memorable games.

I think 2012 was my best season at Zanaco because we won the league that year and I was young player of the year

“My first game at Zanaco was against nakambala at sunset stadium in 2012. I remember that game like it was yesterday because the game was 0-0 and when I came in as a substitute with Moses Phiri we managed to change the game and we won 3-0 I think. My last game was against nkana and we lost 4-1 and in that game I got an injury which kept me out for some months,” he added.

“I had a quiet number of best games for the club but the one I would pick out was against nkana.. the last game which decided our league title in 2012 and my worst was against Choma eagles where we were leading 3-1 and I made 2 mistakes which resulted in two goals and we drew 3-3.”

Spanner as he is nicknamed spent five years at Sunset Stadium winning two league titles.
