SACCORD Condemns UPND Misconduct

The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes -SACCORD- says the conduct of UPND members towards President Edgar Lungu when he visited Monze recently is regrettable and unfortunate.SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says actions of the UPND members must be condemned by all peace-loving ZambiansMr. Cheembe says there is no part of Zambia that must be a no-go area for the Republican President.He says Zambians must never allow a culture of insolence and violent communication towards elected leaders.In a statement to ZNBC news, Mr. Cheembe said the Office of the Presidency must be respected even if one may not agree with the individual occupying it.He has also appealed to the PF not to retaliate, although their pain is understandable on account of disrespect.The SACCORD executive director said the PF is a national party that has a presence in all parts of the nation, hence there is no need for the ruling party to highlight Zambia as having PF and opposition strongholds.Mr. Cheembe has equally appealed to the opposition UPND to ensure their members respect the leadership of the ruling party and prevail over them to stop engaging in violent communication.
