A Brace from Zesco United Women’s Football Club striker Grace Chanda has propelled the Copper Queens to the Penultimate round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with a resounding 2-0 victory over the Mares of Botswana to set up a date with East African Surprise Package Harambee Starlets of Kenya who have edged The Black Queens of Ghana 1-0 on aggregate in extra time after the two countries failed to settle their debts during regulation time.

Zambia came into the match carrying a one-goal advantage thanks to Mary Mwakapila’s lone strike in the first leg.

Coach Bruce Mwape made two changes to the team that beat the Mares 1-0 at home with Hellen Mubanga coming on for Judith Zulu and Anita Mulenga taking up Vast Phiri’s place at the heart of the defense.

Grace Chanda was the hero of the day as she netted a goal in each half to give the Copper Queens an emphatic 3-0 aggregate win and help them progress to the fourth round to face the Harambee Starlets.

Zambia will face Kenya next month in the 4th Round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Qualifiers.
