RHINO HORNS RETURNED TO NATIONAL PARKS

Choma Principal Magistrate Exonobert Zulu sitting in Livingstone has ordered that the White Rhino horns which are exhibits in the case involving two local court magistrates and three others be returned into the custody of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife for security reasons.
Principal Magistrate Zulu gave the order after the rhino horns were tendered before court as evidence by the prosecution.
Magistrate Zulu has also ordered that the mobile phones for the accused persons which were also tendered in as evidence by the prosecution, be returned into the custody of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Zulu has ordered for a trial within trial after the defense team objected to the admission of warn and caution statements by the prosecution when the arresting officer Kennedy Nyasulu was giving evidence before court on grounds that the accused did not voluntarily sign the documents but did so under duress.
The trial within a trial will start on Monday November 12, 2018 and the accused remain remanded in custody except for David Mununga and Mwala Mwendanei who are on bail.
