RENTAL INCOME TAX REMITTANCE LOW – ZRA

The Zambia Revenue Authority – ZRA – has intensified physical auditing on properties to ensure rental income tax compliance on residential and commercial property.

And the Authority working with the Lusaka City Council has also started sensitizing property owners on the rental income tax.

ZRA Acting Corporate Communications Manager OLIVER NZALA says the sensitisation is meant to overcome the low compliance levels on rental income tax.

Mr NZALA says the authority is also working with the local authorities across the country to register property owners for the tax.

Inspecting properties and sensitizing people on rental tax in Lusaka, Mr NZALA said it is by law that all property owners that are making money through rentals must pay rental income tax.

He said the authority will continue with door to door sensitization to enhance compliance levels.

Mr NZALA said the feedback during the sensitization will help the authority to capture more property owners.
