REMAIN UNITED-FIRST LADY

First Lady Esther Lungu has urged Zambian to remain united and peaceful in order to attract more investment to the country in the new year.
Speaking shortly after visiting Kanyama First Level hospital and New year babies in Lusaka today, Mrs. Lungu added that children must be loved and cared for because they are a blessing from God.
The First Lady was impressed with the work culture of the health workers at the facility despite serving huge numbers of patients.
Mrs. Lungu said this after she met Veronica Mwamba receiving medical treatment after she was beaten by her husband Sandrous Hakawezha for deciding to reserve some money for home use against his wish to spend the money on new year celebrations.
And Kanyama Member of Parliament, who is also Gender Minister Elizabeth Phiri said perpetrators of gender-based violence should not be allowed to get bond.
Ms. Phiri assured the first lady that she will follow up the matter as the suspect was reported detained in Kanyama police post.
And Kanyama Medical Superintendent Wilson Mbewe said the Hospital recorded eighteen new year babies, nine girls and nine boys.
