By Justine Akakulubelwa-The Rural Electrification Authority -REA- is set to pilot a renewable energy project in Nduma village, in Sikaunzwe area of Kazungula district.

REA Director Engineering Services, PATRICK MUBANGA, says the One point 5-Million Kwacha project is the first of its kind, as it comes with a component of water provision.

Mr. MUBANGA says the project is being funded by the European Union -EU- through the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

He says the successful implementation of the pilot project in Nduma village, will enable REA to undertake similar projects across the country.

And Sikaunzwe Primary School Headteacher, AARON SANKALIMBA, says once implemented, the project will enable the school to effectively conduct ICT lessons.

Mr. SANKALIMBA says currently the school spends a lot of money on petrol for a generator to enable pupils to learn ICT.

And Nduma Village Headman, KAUDEN SIBUNDE, says the lives of his subjects are expected to change especially that the renewable energy project has a component of water development.
