REA Hands over Finished Projects To Govt Institutions

The Rural Electrification Authority-REA- has handed over a grid extension and solar electrification projects worth over K72 million to the Ministries of Education and Health and power utility company, ZESCO.

The projects were constructed between 2016 and 2017 by the Authority with the target to bridge the electricity gap that exist in both urban and rural areas.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Lusaka today, REA Acting Chief Executive Officer Clement Chiwele said the grid extension projects handed over to ZESCO were constructed at a cost of K47.4 million and solar power projects constructed at the cost K23.7 million have been handed over to the Ministry of General Education.

Mr. Chiwele added that K1.3 million was spent on solar power projects that have now become property of the Ministry of Health.
