PSMFC Designing Irrigation Package

The Public Service Micro Finance Company -PSMFC- says it is developing an irrigation kit for small scale farmers to respond to the dry spell the country is experiencing.

PSMFC Chief Executive Officer MUBANGA MWIKO says most farmers have registered crop failure following the dry spell.

Mr MWIKO says an irrigation package to assist small scale farmers mitigate the crop failure they have suffered will be accessible in the next few weeks.

He has also called on the private sector to assist government come up with short, to medium, to long term irrigation solutions for small scale farmers.

Mr MWIKO says this will mitigate the impact of the dry spell and increase food security.

He says government is keen to cushion farmers following poor rains recorded in most parts of the country.
