PSL Watch: Mwape Musonda on target, Gampy assists as Mweene keeps another clean sheet

The South African Premier Soccer League entered the penultimate round this evening with nine exciting matches taking place at the same time.

A number of Zambian players were involved in the matches with Mwape Musonda contributing a goal, Gamphani Lungu assisted while Kennedy Mweene continued in goal for Mamelodi Sundowns and kept his 3rd clean sheet in four games.

At FNB Stadium, Mwape Musonda scored a beautiful diving header at the hour mark to guide Lidoda Duvha to a 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits.

At ABSA Tuks Stadium, Chipolopolo Defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala put in a great shift for 86 minutes before being withdrawn for Kristopher Bergman in Stellenbosch’s 1-1 draw with Amazulu.

Sphesihle Maduna put Usuthu in the lead in the 37th minute before Leletu Skelem could draw the Stellies level with eight minutes left to play.

Orlando Stadium, Lazarus Kambole was a late second substitute for Kaizer Chiefs who managed a 1-0 win over Chippa United. Khama Billiat scored the only goal of the game.

Chiefs remain top of the table with 56 points and have since qualified to the CAF Champions League.

At Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Kennedy Mweene kept another clean sheet as Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Polokwane City 3-0 thanks to goals from Anele Ngcongca, Themba Zwane and


Keletso Makgalwa.

On the opposite end, Salulani Phiri put in a 90 minutes shift but unfortunately, his team gets relegated. Mwenya Cyril Chibwe was left out of the matchday squad.

At Bidvest Stadium, Gamphani Lungu put in a full shift and set up the third goal for Supersport United which was scored by Bradley Grobler as Matsatsantsa beat Baroka FC 4-1. Thamsanqa Gabuza and Grant Kekana.

Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates beat Maritzburg United 1-0 thanks to a Gabadinho Mhango goal. Austin Muwowo, Justin Shonga, and Augustine Mulenga were all not involved in the match.
