Protests and ululation at PF Secretariat

There were mixed feelings at the Patriotic Front Secretariat today, Sunday morning, May 29, 2016, reports Zambian Eye roving Reporter.

Scores of party supporters gathered at the Lumumba Road office to hear, celebrate and petition the adoption process.

Our Reporter who was at the Secretariat says a Ms Tina who is said to be the administrative secretary denied speaking to the media. The supporters accompanied their Local government and Mayoral aspiring candidates from Lusaka.

Some candidates where seen storming out of the party Secretary’s office with adoption certificate in one hand and a clenched fist on the other. That gesture immediately sent their respective cadres in ululation as they sung praise songs for their candidates. However those whose candidates didn’t go through were spotted walking out whilst re-organizing themselves at Engen filling station just across the party offices.

“We are not happy with how this adoption process is going; we don’t want a councilor who will shun us again”, one ward official was heard speaking to his colleagues.

Efforts to get a comment from PF Secretary General, Davies Chama proved futile as he was reportedly in the meeting but his car was seen parked outside.

The UPND had similar protests against the dropping of Zambezi East favorite candidate who polled more in the primaries but failed to make it to the final adoption list. Mr. Brian Kambita‘s supporters however won their protest after the party rescinded its decision and finally gave him an adoption certificate

Both PF and UPND’s adoption process has been secretive, shying from media and the public
