PROFLIGHT Zambia has confirmed the lighting incident which happened on Monday involving flight P00705 which had 41 passengers and 5 crew members on board.
The aircraft was forced to land at
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport without anyone being injured on Monday following a hailstorm and some potential lightning strike.
In a statement, the Proflight Zambia has explained that the incident happened while its Bombardier Dash 8 Turbo prop aircraftthe was descending through cloud as it encountered severe hail as it came into land at the airport.
“The aircraft, with 41 passengers and five crew members on board, landed safely and no one was injured during the incident,” the company revealed.
It further stated that the damage caused by the hailstorm was significant and that there was potentially a lightning strike in addition.
“Flight P00705 departed Livingstone Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport at 14:26 and arrived in Lusaka at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 15:26,” further revealed the company.
And the company said due to the incident, the aircraft will be out of service until after it undergoes thorough maintenance and is certified to fly again.
