“PROBE MUKANDA DISEASE OUTBREAK”

A Livingstone based traditionalist, George Lifuti, has called for a thorough investigation to establish why over 50 children fell sick at a Mukanda circumcision camp in the Tourist Capital.
Mr. Lifuti has described as disgraceful, the outbreak of a disease which led the Ministry of Health to quarantine over 50 boys, who were attending Mukanda.
He says being a school with strict rules, Mukanda only allows a small number to be in camp at a time and wonders why a named circumcision camp enrolled over one hundred children.
Mr. Lifuti says over-enrolling compromises control and management of the Mukanda and could result in unforeseen misfortunes like what has happened in Livingstone.
He has since called on all Mbunda, Luvale and Chokwe elders in Livingstone to help remove the commercial tag on the Mukanda.
Mr. Lifuti has since advised those setting up circumcision camps to stick to tradition.
