Private sector to be included in implementation of NHI-Chilufya

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has called for a robust investment in health security systems as a means of attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Speaking when he officially opened the 6th Africa Hospital Expansion summit in Lusaka,Dr. Chilufya says while Zambia has done well countering the outbreak of epidemics such as the ebola virus, there is still need for resilience to further counter any outbreaks.
Dr. Chilufya says the universal health coverage target should be above 80%, noting that this can only be achieved by identifying challenges in delivering adequate health coverage.
Meanwhile Dr Chilufya says government will not leave out the private sector in the implementation of the National Health Insurance law.
He says government noted that a treasury backed financing t health is not workable anymore hence embarking on partnerships with various stakeholders aimed at providing quality health care to citizens.
