Prime TV was inciting people to rise against government – EL

President Edgar Lungu says Prime TV’s 30 days suspension is not harsh.

Recently, Prime TV Proprietor Gerald Shawa described the 30 day suspension imposed on the station by the IBA as harsh.

President Lungu says he will not allow Media Institutions to ruin the peace the country has enjoyed for many years.

Speaking when he met the leadership of the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions at State House, President Lungu says Prime TV was inciting people to rise against the government.

The Head of State has emphasized that the Independent Broadcasting Authority followed the right procedure in suspending the TV station.

And President Lungu says there is no sincerity in the fight against corruption because only politicians are perceived to be corrupt.

He feels the fight against corruption can only become a reality if all stakeholders are involved.

Speaking Earlier, ZCTU President Chishimba Nkole expressed concern at the country’s high debt obligation which is affecting salaries for Civil Servants.

Mr. Nkole says there is no compromise when it comes to salaries
