President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has arrived in Dakar, Senegal to attend the Food Security Summit which opens tomorrow.
The President arrived at 17:30 hrs local time at Leopold Sedar Senghor Military Airport in Dakar.
Senegalese Minister of Agriculture ALY NEOUILLE welcomed President HICHILEMA and treated him to a guard of honour.
Ministers of Agriculture and Livestock REUBEN MTOLO and MAKOZO CHIKOTE were part of the delegation that welcomed the President.
President HICHILEMA is accompanied by Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE.
The objective of the Dakar two-day Summit is to mobilise political support for structural transformation of agriculture in Africa.
It follows renewed global interest in the sector as a basis of enhancing food security in Africa.
At the two day high level Summit, Zambia will showcase its comparative advantage and status regarding Wheat, Maize and Soyabean productions, that are contained in the Food Compact programme for the country.
This is in order to attract the needed financing and technological investment in the sector for it to make meaningful contribution to promoting food security in Africa.
