Pres. Lungu Address Health Rumour in Live TV Interview
President Edgar Lungu delivered a perfect response to rumours that he had fallen ill by making a random appearance on national television this morning.
The rumour mill had gone in overdrive following reports in some media circles that President Lungu had fallen ill and flown to South Africa but the Head of State made the short trip to mass media complex where he freely mingled with staff before making a live special television interview.
President Lungu said that he was sure of winning the August 11 election at the first ballot by over 50% of the total votes.
“Who is well and who is unwell, I don’t know? It is a personal thing we all fall ill at one time or the other but for now I am enjoying the best health,” a relaxed Lungu said.
“If the doctors feel I am not well we have a clinic at State House and they can recommend I go to Maina Soko or UTH where I am from.”
He said that the PF was confident of being retained to power following their proven track record.
The Head of State said the ruling party was comfortable with their choice of running mate Inonge Wina.
“In the event that I pass on, God forbid Mrs Wina will be the President because she is qualified. We did not take that decision lightly because we were looking at the Presidency,” he said.
President Lungu interacted with staff at ZNBC before leaving the premises.
