The prolonged dry spells experienced in some parts of the country in the 2022- 2023 rain season have resulted in poor crop yields among some small-scale farmers.

In Gwembe District of Southern Province, some smallholder farmers who are into production of Maize and Sunflower have expressed fear of possible hunger due to poor harvests.

ROSCAR MICHELO of Handyabanthu Village has told ZNBC news that her Sunflower which she depends on for cooking oil and income has not produced any seed due to poor rainfall experienced last year.

And WILBERT ZYANGALE another farmer says he failed to sow sunflower due to the prolonged dry spell.
