Police Seize Over One Hundred Explosives

(Zanis) Police say the over 100 explosives seized in Mafinga District of Muchinga Province belong to China Civil Engineering and Construction Company.Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has disclosed to ZANIS in that it had establised that China Civil Engineering and Construction Company is the source of the 111 explosives found in the area recently.Police, earlier this week arrested and charged Alex Silwimba, 40, of Kapembe village in Mafinga district for being in possession of the explosives .Mr. Njase said a combined team of detectives from Nakonde Police Division and Mafinga District Police station carried out investigations that revealed that the explosives are for China Civil Engineering and Construction Company, a company contracted to work on the Isoka-Muombe road.He said the court has since ordered that the explosives be returned to the construction company, as they are used to blast the rocks during road construction.Police discovered the two bags of explosive at Silwimba’s house when his wife reported him to the law enforcers that he was keeping the devices behind the house.
