Police is justified to probe riots against sell of ZAFFICO – Pule

Dan PuleThe Christian Democratic Party (CDP)has charged that the Zambia Police is justified to institute investigations into last week’s Kitwe riots staged against the alleged sell of ZAFFICO.

CDP leader Dan Pule says if a crime was committed during these riots, the police should be allowed to investigate the matter professionally and ensure that the law visits all those that broke the law.

Dr. Pule states that the Police should feel free to summon anyone whom they think can help them in the investigations.

He has told QTV News that in view of the fact that what happened in Kitwe is now public knowledge, the Police does not need instructions from State House on how to pursue the matter.

Dr. Pule says if the police therefore fails to question people who are suspects in the commissioning of the crime during the said riots, they will have also failed to perform their duties.

He says his party can actually complain if it sees the Police failing to do its work where innocent people lose property as a result of an orchestrated riot.

Dr. Pule states that the CDP condemns the recent riots staged in Kitwe and at the University of Zambia (UNZA) in Lusaka.

He says it is important for the Zambia Police to work professionally and ensure that such unrest do not recur.
