Police Arrests 5 UPND Cadres

Police arrested another batch United Party for National Development who were found with a truck laden with stones during their across compounds political procession.

The police impounded two vehicles belonging to the UPND campaign team in Garden Compound where they met resistance under the weight of stones pelted their way.

Five people were arrested and detained with attempts to stone the police post by their friends who had wriggled their way off the police dragnet drawing a blank.

Police waylaid the UPND campaign process and conducted a search that exposed the stones that were carried by cadres.

Political violence has tainted the political campaigns with clashes routinely coupled with damage of property for rival cadres.

On Tuesday police opened a docket for two UPND cadres who beat up guards at the University Teaching Hospital when they escorted their vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba to see an ailing chief in the company of Dr Guy Scott.
