Police arrest 11 people in Lusaka for being possession of offensive weapons

POLICE have arrested eleven (11) in Lusaka’s Chalala area for possession of offensive weapons.
The suspects were arrested on Monday around 14:00 hours after police received a tip off from members of the public that they had spotted some people camped in an unfinished building in the area.
Acting Inspector General of Police Eugene Sibote told a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday that police recovered 55 Machetes, six (6) Tezars, and 17 Walkie Talkie Radios.
Sibote said other things that were recovered from the suspects were  29 boxes of registration forms for Leadership Movement (LM) Party under the leadership of a Richard Silumbwe, seven (7) Black Berets, 13 Black Shot Buttons, and
11 pairs of Black Combat uniforms labelled LM.
He said the suspects who were under the command of a Yamikani Zulu aged 37 of Kamwala South are detained in police custody.
And Sibote said investigations to establish the motives of the group have continued.
And Sibote said police will also consider making a strong recommendation for the deregistration of organizations such as the Leadership
