POGBA ABUSED BY FANS AFTER CARDIFF CITY DEFEAT

(Evening Standard) Paul Pogba was on the receiving end of some heated abuse from a section of Manchester United’s Old Trafford support as the Red Devils fell to a humiliating defeat to Cardiff City on the final day of the Premier League season.
Pogba, 26, has had a year of peaks and troughs, winning the World Cup with France last summer before suffering the ignominy of being stripped of the United captaincy and dropped by Jose Mourinho early on in the 2018-19 season.
The French midfielder’s form improved considerably since the arrivals of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager, with Pogba initially justifying his reputation as one of the world’s most talented players.
However, Pogba’s form once again nosedived after Solskjaer was named as permanent manager, and his future at the club looks increasingly uncertain as Zinedine Zidane seeks to recruit the midfielder as part of Real Madrid’s summer rebuild.
Pogba has made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid, and has described the prospect of playing for Zidane in the Spanish capital as a “dream”.
While Standard Sport understands that United would demand a club-record fee to sell Pogba to Real, an altercation between the midfielder and a fan on Sunday risks pushing the player closer to the exit door.
With United’s players embarking on a lap of honour following a meek 2-0 loss to an already-relegated Cardiff team, video emerged on social media which showed Pogba receiving some foul-mouthed abuse from one supporter – to which the player responded by shrugging and giving the fan a thumbs-up.
