Players to watch at Cosafa Championships

Chipolopolo stand-in coach Aggrey Chiyengi has drilled a very youthful squad which will take part in the COSAFA Championship, outstanding players in the just ended transitional season will team up in search of first COSAFA trophy since 2013. Here are some players to watch at the tournament:

AUSTIN MUWOWO

The on loan midfielder at Forest Rangers has been so impressive through out the season and he was joint top scorer with clubmate Zikiru Adams and Napsa Stars forward Laudit Mavugo.

Muwowo established himself as the best number 10 in the Super League after scoring 10 goal and assisting more than 8 times. The midfielder is capable of dribbling past defenders and is full of trickeries.

He can play in the flanks, as a number 9 but he has been so effective when deployed to play just behind the striker and he has flourished in that position.

CHITIYA MUSUSU

Not one of the fast player when it come to mobility but the Zanaco striker has mastered how to properly use his big body. Chitiya started the season on a slow note as he was still recovering from an injury, as season progressed he grew in confidence.

Everytime I watch him he reminds me of Ntofontofo Collins Mbesuma, very strong and capable of holding up play is what makes him a danger. He can play as a lone.

What makes him a complete striker it’s his finishing abilities, he has an eye for goals. After Rodger Kola was injured, Chitiya Mususu was entrusted to lead the lines and he did not disappoint. He has scored seven goals and assisted eight times for the bankers.

BRUCE MUSAKANYA

Bruce Musakanyahas been a different player since he was given the captain’s armband, he has been a leader and inspiration for Red Arrows. Without doubt he is Red Arrows player of the year.

Musakanya has the ability to go past defenders with his tricks and dribbles, explosive with the ball on his feet. He also has goals in his boots. Its now or never for Musakanya to prove a point and break into the Chipolopolo proper.

LAZAROUS KOMBOLE

Kambole has been an outstanding player for Zesco United and he has been a source of goals, onr of the was that beautiful volley in 2-nil win against Nkana in CAF Champions League.

He has scored a total of 14 goals in all competitions for Zesco and he will be a great success at the COSAFA

Championship if given the opportunity to play, he is another source of goals.

It will interesting to him team up upfront with Muwowo, Musakanya, hope hope we will get a chance to see them play together. Overall squad picked is capable of going all the to the finals and winning the trophy.
