Players abroad: Barbara Banda returns to action as French based duo celebrate wins

Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend. It was back to action for Barbara Banda after a two week lay off due to injury.

Emmanuel Banda and Stophila Sunzu were on the winning end while Clatous Chota Chama, Rodrick Kabwe and coach Wedson Nyirenda suffered defeats.

In the DRC, Rainford Kalaba and Kabaso Chongo put in full shifts as TP Mazembe faced off with AS Vita in a derby dabbed the Classic DRC .

In South Africa, Kennedy Mweene started his second game in a row and was on the winning end this time as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Coach Wedson Nyirenda’s Baroka 2-1.

Former Nkana captain Donashano Malama was a second half substitute for Chippa United who suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of Kaiser Chiefs to be eliminated from the Nedbank Cup . Chiefs progressed to final where they will face TS Galaxy.

In the NFD, Rodrick Kabwe and his Ajax Cape Town team mates suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Royal Eagles.

In Tanzania, Midfielder Clatous Chota Chama and his Simba SC team mates were handed a shock 2-1 defeat by Kagera Sugar in a Tanzanian Ligi Kuu encounter.

In Austria, Patson Daka was a second half substitute for Redbull Salzburg in their one all draw away at St. Pölten while midfielder Enock Mwepu was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, Striker Brian Mwila was left out of the match day squad for Rheindorf Altach who played out to a 2-2 draw with Rapid Wien.

In Belgium, Striker Fashion Sakala put in a full shift for KV Oostende who played out to a Barren draw with Westerlo in their Belgian Uefa Europa play off round.

In France, Emmanuel Banda put in a full shift for AS Béziers who narrowly beat Valenciennes in an eleven goal thriller. Béziers were down 5-3 with fifteen minutes to go but fought back to win 6-5.

Elsewhere Stophila Sunzu put in an impressive 90 minute shift for FC Metz who beat Gazélec Ajaccio two nil thanks to goals from John Boye and Ibrahima Niane. Metz lead the French League two log with 71 points and are just ten points away from promotion to Ligue one with five games to go.

In Israel, Left back Emmanuel Mbola and his Ihoud Bnei Sakhnin FC team mates had an off weekend.

In Poland, Lubambo Musonda and his Śląsk Wrocław team mates will be in action later today against Korona Kielce.

In Russia, Evans Kangwa came from the bench to play the last few minutes of Arsenal Tula’s 2-1 win over UFA.

In Spain, Barbara Banda put in a 55 minute shift on her return from injury for Spanish femenina side EDF Logrono who beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 and put an end to their back to back losses.
