PF RETAINS MWANSABOMBWE,LUKASHYA SEATS

The ruling Patriotic Front has retained the Mwansabombwe Parliamentary seat with a landslide victory.

PF Candidate Kabaso Kampampi beat his closet rival UPND Candidate Sunday Maluba with a 4,956 margin.

ZNBC’s Brian Mwale Reports from Mwansabombwe that , this was after Mr. Kampampi polled 6,478 votes against Mr. Maluba’s paltry 1,522 votes.

And Mr. Kampampi says his first task is to push for reconciliation with the people of Mwansabombwe to make it easy in rolling out development in the area.

He told the media immediately after his declaration that his focus will be continuity of developmental projects started by the late MP Rodgers Mwewa.

And Luapula Province PF Chairman Nixon Chilangwa said the election victory is a reflection of the faith and trust that Mwansabombwe residents have in President Edgar Lungu’s leadership.

Mr. Chilangwa further noted that the PF has continued practicing real politics of winning real elections and not on social media like some opposition parties.

And PF Mwansabombwe Campaign Chairman Yamfwa Mukanga said the PF’s retaining of the seat means people have faith in its leadership and development process.

He said the margin that Mr. Kampampi won will even be bigger in next year’s general elections.

And UPND Mwansabombwe Campaign Chairman Percy Chanda said the results speak for themselves but that the UPND will issue a comprehensive statement after assessing the results.

NAREP candidate Victor Musangu came in third position with 400 votes, followed by Leadership Movement’s Jason Mwanza who polled 285 votes while Josephine Chama of UPPZ got 129 votes.

Mwansabombwe Returning Officer Donatelo Singa declared Mr. Kampampi winner slightly after midnight.

He said the 136 ballots were rejected from the 8,950 votes cast out of 27,000 registered voters.

PF WINS LUKASHYA 

And the ruling patriotic front PF has won the Lukashya parliamentary by election beating their closest rival the UPND.

The PF candidate George Chisanga has polled 13,431 while UPND’s Davis Mulenga got 2,684 votes.

ZNBC’s Chiwanza Nachalwe Reports from Lukashya that Returning officer Peter Sati declared Mr. George Chisanga as dully elected member of parliament for Lukashya constituency at the council chambers in kasama this morning.

that Other candidates who contested include Chimponda Bwalya of people’s alliance for change,PAC who polled 474 votes , Kabungo Samuel of UPPZ got 147 votes.

Leadership movement ‘s Sinyangwe Brown polled 143 votes and Kabwe Christopher of the MMD got 114 votes.

Total votes cast are 17,317 with 322 rejected votes.

The results are from all the 97 polling stations.

The Returning officer Peter Sati is yet to declare the winner.
