PF is Playing Adolf Hitler’s Politics of Tormentor and ‘Saviour’, Alleges Mayondi

UPND member Kelvin Mayondi has accused the ruling PF of playing Adolf Hitler’s politics of tormentor and ‘saviour’ and has cautioned Zambians to wake up to see that reality.

And Mayondi, a former secretary general of the Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) of Dr Ludwig Sondashi, has advised the UPND senior leadership to come up with methodologies of harnessing the opposition party’s membership.

Mayondi told The Mast that the ruling party had taken advantage of most Zambians’ destitute state, due to the government’s inadequacies, to intimidate and buy their ‘loyalty’, characteristic of Hitler, a German Nazi dictator during World War II (1889-1945).
“I think you remember the story of Adolf Hitler who got a live chicken on a podium and plucked out its feathers and he threw it on the ground and later gave it some chicken feed. It had no option but to feed on what it was given. So, this is the strategy the PF is using – the government torments you by not offering you any survival opportunities and later dangles some carrot for you like a saviour. So, that is why you hear about stories of ‘so many people defecting from the UPND to join the PF…’ It’s because of hunger,” Mayondi said in an interview in Lusaka.
“This is a ploy the Patriotic Front is employing!”

He, however, remained optimistic that tormented Zambians were watching the dictatorial tendencies of the PF government and that when time comes, “all these in government will have to pay for what they have done.”
“That moment is coming and coming quite soon. We know the architects of this misery that has taken Zambia into this position. Zambians are not blind to what is going on,” he stressed.

Mayondi lamented further that of late, the rank and file of the governing PF had been apportioning blame on the UPND as being planners of political violence.

“But I want to repel this by reminding Zambians that they should take stock or reflect on the PF’s strategies from the time the party came into government in 2011. It is a deliberate strategy by the PF to use violence in order to scare away voters and there has been overwhelming evidence in this respect,” he noted.
“Our judiciary has been heavily compromised and so is the police, such that even when they know that the perpetrators of violence are PF, little has been done to punish them.”
And Mayondi regretted that President Edgar Lungu was “deceiving the international community” that Zambia was a democratic country.
“[But] there is nothing democratic about Zambia as things stand now! There is absolutely no democracy to talk about. You have seen how the Church has been infiltrated where now you have ‘Pastors for Edgar Lungu!’ I want to urge Zambians not to be duped and start thinking that the Patriotic Front is a saviour of this country – far from it!” he argued.
“We should just persevere. We need to stand up and fight for our rights and bring back this country on the right footpath.”
Meanwhile, Mayondi called on the UPND to “put things in order”.
“I’m aware that a few people are getting disillusioned or disgruntled from my party but I want to urge them to remain strong. As things stand, our leaders need to come up with methodologies of how to harness membership [because] membership retention is very important. We need to look at means and ways of taking care of the membership requirements so that we move as a strong unity. When people’s minds are disgruntled and fragmented, it is difficult to move forward as one entity. So, the vision of the party must be shared among the party’s general membership. People need to fully understand that this is the party that can redeem this country and that will create a big difference,” noted Mayondi.
