Over 85 thousand national Health Insurance Management authority NHIMA members countrywide have been able to access various health care services under the scheme since it was launched.

NHIMA Public Relations Officer Chanda Kaluba says among those that that accessed health services at accredited health facilities some of them, are the elderly that do not contribute to the scheme.

Mr. Kaluba says the authority continues to provide a comprehensive strategy to steer the health system towards greater efficiency, improved quality and financial sustainability.

He said this in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka.

Mr. Kaluba further has urged people in the informal sector to register with the scheme so that they are able to access health services from various health facilities that are accredited to NHIMA.

The authority has this year been able to accredit more health facilities to NHIMA bringing the total number of institutions to 140 from the 128 .
